What is Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)?

As we physically sign the documents from pen, we certify or sign the documents on internet through Digital signature certificate (DSC). A DSC is a secure digital key issued by recognised Certifying Authorities (CAs) to validate the identity of the certificate holder. It can be used through a computer to sign the documents electronically. Digital signature stored in a USB-E token. It contains an individual’s name, digital signature, date of issuance of the certificate and date of expiry, and the name of the CA.

Types & Uses of DSC

Class 1: Class 1 DSC contains basic data of individuals or businessess to confirm the user’s name and e mail id as mentioned in the consumer database.

Class 2: Enhancement of Class 1 DSC. It is generally used for filing documents of Income tax, Registrar of companies and GST. It is used where there is a substantial risk of malicious activity.

Class 3: Class 3 certificate is an upgraded version of Class 2 and safe the data from data theft, fraudulence and failure of security. It is needed for online tendering and auctions. It is most demanded digital signature now days because Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) discontinues Class 2 DSC effective from January 1, 2021.

Process to apply for Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)

Mobile Verification: After validation of documents applicant will receive an OTP on mobile which need to enter in application form for verification purpose.

Video Verification: After successful mobile verification applicant will receive a link on email, where you need to record your personal information like: Name, DOB and showing original PAN Card and Aadhar Card.

Final Process: After both the verification applicant will receive an SMS with the DSC application ID and a passcode, then DSC will be prepare.
